Our crawler.

If ShowcifyIngestBot showed up in your access logs, this page explains what it is, what it does, and how to reach us.

1. What this bot is

ShowcifyIngestBot is the automated crawler behind Showcify’s job board, and the same fetcher behind Showcify’s job-fit-check tool, which lets a Showcify user paste in the URL of a job posting to pull its details into their application workflow. It runs in two distinct modes, described below.

2. What it crawls

  • Scheduled board sync. Once per calendar day, spread across a multi-hour window rather than a burst, it re-checks a small, curated set of employer career boards through the public job-postings API of an ATS platform your careers page already uses (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, or Recruitee) — never your company’s own website. Only boards we’ve deliberately added to Showcify’s listings, not an open-ended scan of the web. On a rate-limit response we stop immediately and wait out the delay the ATS asked for, up to a day, before trying that board again.
  • On-demand link import. When a Showcify user pastes in the URL of one specific job posting, the bot fetches that one posting, at the moment they ask. This can be any URL the user gives us, including a company’s own careers site — it happens only for that single page a person explicitly submitted, never as a standing or repeated crawl. When we fall back to reading the page’s own HTML we check that site’s robots.txt first and stop if it disallows us; requests to an ATS platform’s documented public API (the same kind used for scheduled sync, above) go straight to that endpoint.
  • Operator-run board discovery. When we’re considering adding a new employer’s board to Showcify’s listings, a member of our team may run a one-off check against that ATS platform’s public job-postings API to confirm the board exists and is reachable. This isn’t a standing crawl — it runs once, on a human’s request, and only against the same kind of public API used for scheduled board sync above, never a company’s own website.

3. What it doesn’t do

  • Doesn’t log in, doesn’t access anything behind authentication, and doesn’t submit forms or applications.
  • Doesn’t set out to collect personal data — it reads the posting’s own public text (title, description, and, for scheduled board sync, location and salary if disclosed). Anything a company chose to publish inside a job description comes along with it.
  • Doesn’t bypass CAPTCHAs, rate limits, or access controls.

4. How to identify it

Every request in either of the automated modes above carries this exact User-Agent string:

ShowcifyIngestBot/1.0 (+https://showcify.com/bot; job-posting ingestion)

Operator-run board discovery carries a similarly-named but distinct string (showcify-jobbot/1.0, with a link back to this page) rather than the exact string above, since it runs from a different internal tool.

5. Opt out / contact

Want your board excluded, or have a question about a specific request? Email support@showcify.com with your company or board name and we’ll deactivate the source.
